Construction Safety Inspector

The Construction Safety Inspector will be extremely observant and shall be responsible for management of all safety and security matters on project site. The prime responsibility of a construction safety engineer’s is to oversee all safety aspects of the work and support the construction manager to maintain a safe environment. NYC DEP or heavy civil/shaft construction experience is plus. Must be able to work day, swing, or night shifts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Conduct safety audits of projects and generate reports with findings and photos.

· Review and provide comments on project-specific health and safety plans, Safe Work Plans/JHAS, and other safety submittals.

· Investigate safety-related incidents and occurrences and review contractor's incident reports.

· Develop and provide safety-related training to internal staff.

· Participate in progress meetings, safety meetings, and safety walkthroughs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental, engineering, or related field with 5+ years’ experience in construction safety.

· Minimum 5 Years of heavy civil and shaft construction experience

· 10+ years’ of construction safety experience in leu of education

· OSHA 30-Hour Safety Certification in good standing

· Site Safety Manager Certification

· Certified Safety Professional

· Good communication skills - verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

· Good organizational skills, ability to multitask, and be a team player.

· Ability to stand for long periods, walk on uneven surfaces and climb ladders and/or scaffolds.

· Work shifts may require weekend and nights

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· CHST, or other safety certifications are highly desirable

· Scaffold Training, Excavation, Confined Space, Lead awareness, and Asbestos awareness are desirable

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60.00 - $65.00 per hour
