• Contract: 22 months initial contract with potential for conversion to full-time
• Pay: $65.00-70.00/hour + optional medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) match

Overview

Our Client is seeking an experienced Construction Safety Specialist to provide technical safety leadership across the full lifecycle of construction projects. This role supports project teams and contractors from project feasibility through completion, ensuring regulatory compliance, contractor safety performance, hazard mitigation, safety-by-design practices, and overall worker and stakeholder protection.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee construction safety activities from project planning through project completion
• Partner with internal teams and contractors to promote safe work practices
• Conduct field inspections, safety reviews, audits, and acceptance testing activities
• Review contractor safety plans, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and work permits
• Ensure contractor pre-qualification requirements are satisfied
• Monitor contractor compliance with OSHA regulations and site-specific requirements
• Lead and participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and pre-job briefings
• Maintain a strong field presence across active construction sites
• Support prevention through design initiatives and safety-focused project design reviews
• Provide guidance on hazard analysis, compliance requirements, and safety assurance strategies

Required Skills

• Bachelor's Degree required
• 6+ years of experience in Construction Safety, General Construction, Industrial Safety & Health, Safety Engineering, or related field
• Strong knowledge of FED OSHA and CAL OSHA regulations and construction safety practices
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes
• Experience conducting project design reviews and applying Safety by Design concepts
• Knowledge of applicable regulations, industry standards, and safety best practices
• Ability to independently solve problems and address issues outside primary areas of expertise
• Strong communication and conflict resolution skills

Preferred Skills

• OSHA 30 (Construction) certification or higher
• CHST, CSP, or equivalent safety certification
• Experience supporting multi-trade construction activities
• Advanced degree in Construction, Engineering, Occupational Safety, or related discipline
• 10+ years of relevant construction safety experience
