Construction Special Inspector

Overview

The whole is only as good as the sum of its parts... and CMT Services Group is growing again! We are in search of full time ICC Special Inspector/Materials Testing Technicians to be based from our West Conshohocken, PA office. Work area will be in Southeastern PA and Southern NJ.

Join our team as a Construction Special Inspector and play a vital role in ensuring the quality, and compliance of construction projects. This is a key player in construction site inspections, you will verify adherence to building codes, construction regulations, and project specifications while supporting the successful delivery of critical projects. Your expertise will help uphold the highest standards of quality throughout every phase of construction.

Duties

• Conduct thorough construction site inspections to verify compliance with building codes, and project specifications.
• Review technical drawings, blueprints, and construction plans to interpret design intent and verify proper implementation on-site.
• Perform quality inspections to identify issues early and recommend corrective actions.
• Collect data through detailed documentation, photographs, and reports to track progress and maintain accurate records for project files.
• Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and project managers to resolve issues related to construction plans or specifications promptly.
• Verify work aligns approved submittals, ICC and ACI codes.

Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for report writing, data analysis, and documentation management.
• Strong understanding of building code analysis, construction regulations, and safety regulations applicable to public infrastructure.
• Skilled in interpreting technical drawings, blueprint reading, and analyzing construction plans to verify compliance.
• Expertise in conducting construction inspections focused on quality control and regulatory adherence.
• Ability to assess construction site conditions accurately through visual inspections and data collection techniques.

Responsibilities

Successful Candidate should have pride in their work and a strong desire to be part of a growing team of professionals. This candidate will be required to transmit typed daily field reports documenting work performed by the various contractors and indicating compliance/non-compliance with contract documents, as well as cast field samples of concrete, masonry, grout, etc. for strength verification, while being able to read plans and specifications and be a self starter. In addition, COMMUNICATION is a MUST! Discussions with Site Foreman and Superintendents to resolve site issues, as well as being expected to provide daily phone calls to department manager to inform of daily progress of the project.

Qualifications

This candidate shall have a minimum of 5 years experience in this field, or possess applicable ICC and ACI certifications. Essential job functions include, but are not limited to: Performing testing on construction materials including, post installed anchors, fireproofing, firestopping, soils, reinforcing steel, concrete, masonry, and asphalt, in accordance with project plans and specifications as well as local code requirements.

Pay: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 44.0 per week
