Construction Superintendent

Our projects require close coordination between owners, architects, inspectors, subcontractors, and field personnel. We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent who can take ownership of field operations and successfully manage projects from mobilization through closeout.

Position Description

The Construction Superintendent will be responsible for the day-to-day field management of assigned construction projects, including subcontractor coordination, scheduling, inspections, safety, quality control, documentation, and overall site operations.

The ideal candidate will have commercial and/or public works construction experience with a strong working knowledge of California Division of the State Architect (DSA) requirements and procedures.

This position requires travel to project sites throughout Northern California. Depending on project location and duration, overnight stays may be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily construction activities, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
• Coordinate multiple trades and maintain proper construction sequencing.
• Maintain project schedules and develop weekly/three-week look-ahead schedules.
• Monitor subcontractor manpower, productivity, quality, and schedule performance.
• Read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, MEP, and other construction documents.
• Review drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, ASIs, and approved project changes.
• Coordinate inspections with the Inspector of Record (IOR), testing agencies, architects, engineers, and other project representatives.
• Ensure required DSA inspections and testing occur before work is concealed.
• Track correction notices, inspection deficiencies, punch-list items, and outstanding work through completion.
• Maintain accurate daily reports, progress photographs, inspection records, and project documentation.
• Identify field conflicts, constructability issues, and potential schedule impacts before they affect the project.
• Enforce company safety policies and OSHA/Cal-OSHA requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and professional jobsite.
• Assist with project startup, testing, commissioning, punch list, and closeout.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction field experience with experience as a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Foreman, or similar field leadership role.
• Previous DSA project experience required.
• Strong understanding of DSA inspection, documentation, testing, and field coordination requirements.
• Commercial and/or public works construction experience.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and RFIs.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination.
• Knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA construction safety requirements.
• Strong communication, organization, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working with electronic drawings, email, tablets, and construction management software.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Willingness to travel throughout Northern California and stay overnight when project requirements dictate.
• OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, and experience with Bluebeam, Procore, Microsoft Project, or similar software are preferred.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
