Construction Superintendent

The "captain of the ship" on the job site.

You love being where the action is, solving puzzles in real time, and you take pride in watching a building rise from the dirt. This is a boots-on-the-ground role for a true leader who keeps people safe and gets things done. You'll run field operations on our mid-size commercial projects across the Kansas City metro, from site setup to the last punch-list item.

Monarch Build is a local commercial general contractor based in Overland Park, Kansas. We build for healthcare, dental, education, financial, corporate, retail, and sports and recreation clients, and we believe great construction starts with great relationships.

What you'll do

• Run the show on site. Plan the job before it starts (critical path, long-lead items, site logistics, utilities and stormwater) and keep crews moving and schedules tracking.
• Keep everyone safe, with zero compromise. Lead weekly safety walk-throughs and reports, run toolbox talks, and stop work immediately on any life-safety concern.
• Lead the subcontractors like a sea captain. Schedule trade partners, vendors and site staff day to day, build the two- and three-week look-ahead, and run weekly foreman and pre-installation meetings.

Protect the budget. Set production rates, review weekly labor and unit-cost reports, and steer the job back on track when it drifts.

• Spot the details. Own the quality control plan, make sure every inch matches the prints, keep inspections moving, and drive the punch list to zero.
• Write the daily story. Keep daily reports, timesheets, inspection logs and weekly progress photos current, so anyone could pick up the job file.
• Represent Monarch Build with owners, architects, engineers and inspectors, and lead the field team with clear feedback and real recognition.

What you'll bring

• 7 to 10 years in construction, with a bachelor's degree in a construction-related field or equivalent experience.
• A track record of running several projects from start to finish, including both renovation and ground-up work.
• Layout experience with a total station.
• A proven ability to schedule construction work accurately and manage safety on site.
• Comfort reading contract documents, drawings and specs, and writing clear reports.
• A valid driver's license and a good driving record.

The details

• Full-time and salaried, based out of our Overland Park office and working on jobsites across the Kansas City metro.
• This is field work: you'll be on your feet, climbing, stooping and kneeling, and you'll regularly lift up to 50 pounds and frequently up to 100 pounds.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
