What they need

Traveling Construction Superintendent (Commercial & Industrial)

Role Title: Traveling Construction Superintendent

Location: Remote / Project-Based Travel (Nationwide USA)

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Compensation: Base Salary ~$150k (Flexibility based on experience) + Project-Based Bonuses + Full Benefits & Travel Package

Opportunity Overview

On behalf of a top-tier national design-build General Contractor, we are seeking an experienced Traveling Construction Superintendent to take full ownership of major ground-up commercial and industrial projects across the United States.

This client is a widely respected national builder known for high employee retention, an award-winning workplace culture, and exceptional long-term wealth-building benefits (including an employee stock ownership plan).

This is a premier opportunity for an established Lead or Senior Superintendent who excels at running the entire jobsite managing subcontractors, driving schedules, ensuring safety, and making critical decisions from initial site prep through final handover.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Complete Jobsite Ownership: Direct all daily field operations and lead site execution from ground-break to final turnover.
  • Preconstruction & Sequencing: Partner with the Project Manager post-award to establish construction sequencing, manpower, equipment needs, and baseline schedules.
  • Subcontractor Management: Drive trade performance, resolve site logistics/sequencing challenges, and hold subcontractors accountable for schedule, safety, and quality standards.
  • Structural & Building Execution: Oversee the installation and alignment of foundations, concrete tilt-wall panels, structural steel framing, building envelopes, and mechanical/electrical trade integrations.
  • Safety & Quality Control: Maintain total safety compliance across the jobsite and uphold rigorous quality assurance standards.
  • Reporting & Leadership: Maintain detailed daily site logs, review requisitions and purchase orders, monitor project cost tracking, and serve as the primary leadership presence on site.

Candidate Requirements (Must-Haves)

  • General Contractor Experience: Proven history working directly for a General Contractor (GC) taking full site responsibility, rather than managing a single trade or subcontractor package.
  • Lead Superintendent Track Record: ~5 to 25 years of experience as a Lead Superintendent running entire jobsites.
  • Ground-Up Building Expertise: Direct experience leading complete, ground-up commercial/industrial projects (cold storage, large distribution centers, warehouses, or logistics facilities are highly prioritized).
  • Key Construction Systems: Hands-on experience coordinating concrete tilt-up wall panels, structural steel, and complex mechanical/refrigeration systems.
  • Strong Site Presence: Demonstrable ability to command respect, resolve conflicts, recover slipping schedules, and build trust with trade crews.
  • Tech & Administrative Skills: Proficiency with industry management tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, and MS Excel.
  • Mobility & Logistics: Valid Driver’s License and willingness to travel nationally to project locations across the United States.

What Our Client Offers

  • Competitive Base Compensation: Around $150,000 base salary target, with flexibility based on directly relevant experience.
  • Lucrative Bonus Structure: Project-based performance bonus program tied to job execution and revenue.
  • Full Travel Support: Vehicle allowance, daily living expenses/per diem, and paid flights home every 2 weeks.
  • Ownership & Retirement: Employer-funded Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and 401(k) options.
  • Extended Vacation & Sabbatical: Generous initial PTO (increasing over tenure), plus a 1-month fully paid sabbatical with up to $5,000 in travel reimbursement every 5 years.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Paid volunteer leave, 100% paid maternity leave, education/tuition assistance, and full health, dental, and vision coverage.
