Construction Superintendent – Commercial General Contractor

TriCon Construction is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent / Site Superintendent to join our growing team in New Jersey.

TriCon is a commercial general contractor managing projects throughout New Jersey and the surrounding region across a variety of markets, including healthcare, institutional, commercial, industrial, multifamily, and specialty construction.

We are looking for someone who takes genuine ownership of their projects. The right candidate will be capable of running day-to-day field operations, managing subcontractors, maintaining the project schedule, coordinating with the project management team, and representing TriCon professionally with our clients, architects, engineers, and trade partners.

This is not simply a field coordination position. We are looking for a superintendent who understands how to plan a project, drive a schedule, solve problems, maintain quality, and get a job across the finish line.

Responsibilities

• Manage all day-to-day construction activities at the project site.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, deliveries, inspections, and site logistics.
• Develop and maintain short-term look-ahead schedules in coordination with the Project Manager and overall project schedule.
• Drive subcontractors to meet project milestones and completion dates.
• Review construction documents, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings as required to properly coordinate field work.
• Identify constructability issues, conflicts, scope gaps, and potential schedule impacts before they become larger problems.
• Coordinate work between trades and ensure proper sequencing.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and professionally operated project site.
• Conduct subcontractor coordination and safety meetings as required.
• Maintain daily reports, manpower tracking, progress photos, and other project documentation.
• Coordinate required inspections and work with local officials and third-party inspectors.
• Monitor workmanship and maintain TriCon's quality standards.
• Develop punch lists and drive subcontractors through completion and closeout.
• Work closely with the Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager, estimating team, and company leadership.
• Maintain strong communication with owners, architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders.
• Help identify potential change conditions and communicate them to the project management team.
• Take ownership of project safety, quality, schedule, logistics, and field execution.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial construction field experience preferred, with prior experience as a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or similar field leadership role.
• Experience managing commercial construction projects from mobilization through closeout.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, means and methods, building systems, and trade coordination.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP construction documents.
• Strong knowledge of commercial construction practices and jobsite safety requirements.
• Ability to effectively manage subcontractors and maintain accountability in the field.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable communicating directly with clients, design professionals, subcontractors, and company leadership.
• Ability to use construction technology for project documentation and communication.
• Experience with Procore is strongly preferred.
• OSHA certification preferred.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout New Jersey.
