Construction Supervisor - Big Island, Hawaii

Position Summary

The Construction Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily construction operations, coordinating field personnel, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, company standards, and client requirements. This position serves as a liaison between management, field crews, subcontractors, and clients to ensure successful project execution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of construction crews and subcontractors.
• Plan, schedule, and assign work to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Monitor job site productivity, quality, and compliance with project specifications.
• Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations, ensuring a safe work environment at all times.
• Conduct daily job site inspections and safety meetings.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
• Coordinate equipment, materials, and labor requirements for assigned projects.
• Track project progress and provide regular updates to management.
• Identify and resolve field issues, delays, and conflicts promptly.
• Ensure proper documentation of daily reports, timecards, equipment usage, and project records.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, inspectors, utility representatives, and subcontractors.
• Assist with employee training, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
• Monitor workmanship to ensure compliance with company quality standards.
• Participate in project planning and pre-construction meetings as required.

QualificationsEducation and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of construction experience, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory role preferred.
• Experience in utility construction, civil construction, electrical infrastructure, or related construction fields preferred.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Thorough knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contracts.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic reporting systems.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to travel between job sites as required.
• Ability to work extended hours, evenings, weekends, or emergency response assignments when necessary.

Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily at active construction sites and may involve exposure to moving equipment, noise, dust, and changing weather conditions. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times when required.

Reporting Relationship

Reports to: Project Manager / Operations Manager

Pay: $70,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
