This position performs tradesman level work across multiple construction disciplines—including welding, pipefitting, electrical, and carpentry—as required within refrigeration system installation. All work must comply with standards, project specifications, and safety regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Interpret and work from blueprints, mechanical drawings, and manufacturer specifications to install commercial HVAC/R and refrigeration systems.
  • Install refrigerant piping, pumps, compressors, valves (pneumatic and electric), heat‑transfer components, ventilation systems, and air‑distribution equipment in accordance with engineering details and craft guidelines.
  • Perform pipefitting tasks including brazing, welding, and assembling tubing or piping systems for refrigeration applications.
  • Test pipe and tubing joints for leaks using approved union methods such as electronic leak detectors, pressure gauges, or soap‑and‑water solutions.
  • Test electrical circuits and components to determine required repairs and ensure proper system operation.
  • Connect refrigerant line sets, air ducts, controls, and related refrigeration components.
  • Inspect and maintain refrigeration and EMS (Energy Management Systems) equipment per job specifications and service procedures.
  • Deliver professional customer service and uphold company and standards for communication, documentation, and jobsite conduct.
  • Follow all required check‑in and check‑out procedures with customers and supervisors.
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety, environmental, government, and regulations on every jobsite.
  • Participate in scheduled on‑call rotations to respond to emergency refrigeration service needs in support of customer operational requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned; responsibilities may evolve according to project needs and scope rules.

Skills, Education & Competencies

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and refrigeration system diagrams.
  • Skilled in the installation and service of commercial refrigeration equipment, refrigerant piping, valves, pumps, air‑handling units, and heat‑transfer systems.
  • Ability to perform diagnostic testing on piping systems, electrical circuits, and refrigeration components to identify and correct issues.
  • Knowledge of construction practices, safety protocols, and jobsite procedures.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform physically demanding craft work across multiple trades.
  • Commitment to high‑quality workmanship, customer service, and jobsite professionalism.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Work involves standing, walking, bending, stooping, crawling, climbing, and carrying materials for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs.
  • Requires regular use of hands, tools, and equipment, along with the ability to read fine print, communicate clearly, and prepare documentation.
  • Must be able to work in varying weather conditions, construction environments, roofs, mechanical rooms, and uneven terrain.
  • Exposure to loud noise, machinery, and occasional chemicals or hazardous materials common to refrigeration and construction sites.
  • Variable work hours, including required participation in on‑call rotations as established by the company and union agreement.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be available to support individuals with disabilities in performing essential job functions.
