What they need

Construction / Contracts Manager

Location: Ballymena, Northern Ireland

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Competitive salary, dependent on experience

Through continued growth at Warwick Engineering, we have a need to build our team and are looking for a Construction / Contracts Manager to support the delivery of projects from contract award through to successful completion.

This could be an ideal next step for an experienced Site Manager, Quantity Surveyor, Project Manager or construction professional who is ready to take on greater responsibility and develop into a broader contracts and project delivery role.

You do not necessarily need to already be working as a Contracts Manager.

We are interested in people with experience or a strong background in construction, engineering, manufacturing, agricultural projects or related project delivery environments who have the organisation, commercial awareness and practical experience to manage multiple projects and client relationships.

The Role

Working closely with the Directors and wider Warwick Engineering team, you will take responsibility for coordinating and managing projects following contract award.

You will act as a key link between the client, design, estimating, procurement, production, site teams and subcontractors, ensuring projects are properly planned, commercially managed and delivered safely, on programme and to the required quality.

The role will provide broad exposure to both the commercial and operational sides of project delivery and offers significant scope to develop as the business continues to grow.

What You Will Do

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage projects and contracts from award through to completion and handover.
  • Review contract requirements, drawings, specifications, programmes and project information.
  • Establish clear project programmes, key milestones and delivery requirements.
  • Coordinate activities between design, procurement, manufacturing, delivery and site installation teams.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders.
  • Attend project, progress and site meetings as required.
  • Monitor project progress against programme and identify potential delays or risks at an early stage.
  • Coordinate site mobilisation, installation activities and project resources.
  • Manage subcontractors and specialist suppliers where required.
  • Support the preparation and review of construction programmes, RAMS and project delivery documentation.
  • Ensure Health & Safety, quality and contractual requirements are properly understood and followed.
  • Work closely with the commercial team to monitor project costs and financial performance.
  • Identify, record and manage variations, additional works and changes to scope.
  • Review instructions and correspondence to ensure commercial and contractual matters are properly captured.
  • Support procurement and ensure materials and subcontract packages are aligned with the project programme.
  • Maintain accurate project records and reporting.
  • Provide regular project updates to Directors and management.
  • Manage project completion, snagging, handover and close-out requirements.
  • Help Warwick Engineering continually improve its project and contract management processes.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is practical, organised, commercially aware and comfortable taking responsibility.

You may currently be working as a:

  • Site Manager
  • Quantity Surveyor
  • Project Manager
  • Assistant Contracts Manager
  • Construction Manager

  • Commercial / Project Coordinator

and looking for the opportunity to take the next step in your career.

We would particularly welcome people who can demonstrate:

  • Experience working within construction, engineering, manufacturing or a related project environment.
  • Good understanding of how construction projects are planned and delivered.
  • Strong organisational and project coordination skills.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of project costs, variations and contractual requirements.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications and project documentation.
  • Confidence dealing directly with clients, contractors and site teams.
  • Ability to coordinate several activities and priorities at the same time.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • A practical approach to problem solving.
  • Strong ownership and willingness to see issues through to resolution.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team.

Experience in areas such as site management, quantity surveying, contract administration, procurement, construction programming, manufacturing or installation management would be particularly relevant.

Career Development

This role has been created as part of the continued development and growth of Warwick Engineering.

For someone currently working in site management, quantity surveying or project delivery, it provides an opportunity to broaden your experience beyond one specific discipline and develop responsibility across:

Contracts | Commercial Management | Clients | Procurement | Manufacturing | Construction | Project Delivery | Leadership

We are looking for someone who wants to develop with the business, take increasing ownership of projects and play an important role in how Warwick Engineering manages and delivers its growing workload.

Why Join Warwick Engineering?

You will join an established engineering and manufacturing business where you will have:

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience.
  • Direct involvement in live projects from award through to completion.
  • Exposure to both commercial and operational project management.
  • Close working relationships with company Directors and senior management.
  • The opportunity to take genuine responsibility for project delivery.
  • Experience across a variety of customers, projects and sectors.
  • The opportunity to help improve how projects and contracts are managed.
  • A role with scope to grow as the company continues to develop.

The position will be primarily based from Ballymena, with travel to customer and project sites as required.
