Consultant Haematologist

We are inviting applications for 0.8wte Consultant Haematologist with an interest in Red Cell and General Haematology which is a new post

Applicants will have completed CCT or equivalent (Portfolio Pathway) and must be on the Specialist Register.

The key duties and responsibilities of the post will be to:

• Provide a specialist clinical and laboratory haematology service that is complimentary and enhancing to the current service.
• Maintain an up-to-date and evidence-based broad knowledge of both clinical and laboratory haematology. Expertise in performing and reporting diagnostic bone marrow aspirates is essential.
• Take part in the haematology on-call rota with the on-call consultant being responsible for all in-patient haematology matters and GP and laboratory queries.
• Work closely with haematology colleagues to share in the care of patients with blood disorders in the trust.
• Provide a consultatory and advisory service to colleagues in other specialties in both the Trust and Primary Care Attend the weekly multi-disciplinary team meeting for General Haematology/ haemato-oncology and Regional Haemoglobinopathy MDT.
• Take an active part in educational programmes for trainee doctors, medical students and other nursing and supportive staff, including formal teaching sessions and clinical audits.
