About the role

We are seeking a EXPERIENCED Container Devanning Specialist to join the PROPER DEVANNING GROUP team in Wiri, Auckland. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our warehousing, storage and distribution operations. As a Container Devanning Specialist, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient unloading of containers, managing goods, and ensuring all materials are correctly processed and stored. This role is essential to maintaining the smooth flow of our logistics operations and delivering exceptional service to our clients.

Key responsibilities

• Safely unload containers and remove cargo using appropriate equipment and techniques
• Inspect containers and cargo for damage, defects, or discrepancies upon arrival
• Organise and sort devanned goods according to client specifications and warehouse procedures
• Maintain accurate records of container contents, weights, and condition reports
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout the devanning process
• Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse machinery safely and efficiently
• Communicate with warehouse staff, supervisors, and clients regarding cargo status and any issues
• Stack and store goods in designated warehouse locations according to inventory management systems
• Assist in identifying and reporting any discrepancies between documentation and actual cargo
• Maintain a clean and organised work environment in the devanning and storage areas

What we're looking for

• Proven experience in container devanning, warehouse operations, or a similar role within the logistics or distribution sector
• Competency in operating material handling equipment such as forklifts, with relevant certifications preferred
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when recording cargo information and managing inventory
• Ability to work safely and follow health and safety protocols rigorously
• Physical fitness and capability to perform manual labour, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a warehouse team
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems and inventory tracking software
• Reliability and punctuality with a strong work ethic
• Knowledge of import/export procedures and customs documentation is advantageous
