Why You'll Love Working Here

Melbourne Polytechnic has delivered hands-on, future-focused education for more than 110 years. Our people play a vital role in supporting students, industries and communities across Victoria.

In this role, you’ll enjoy:

  • Meaningful work that supports education, training, innovation and student success
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment
  • Flexible work arrangements, where applicable
  • Exposure to diverse programs, systems and continuous improvement initiatives
  • A values-driven organisation committed to inclusion, wellbeing and quality

About the Role

Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Communications, the Content Producer provides specialist capability in visual storytelling, videography, photography and social media across Melbourne Polytechnic.

You will manage end-to-end content production, from identifying stories and developing narratives through to filming, photography, editing and multi-channel delivery. You will also manage Melbourne Polytechnic’s social media accounts and the ongoing stewardship of the Social Media Policy, supporting consistent, appropriate and effective use of social channels across the Institute.

Working with teaching areas, senior leaders, Creative Services and the broader Marketing and Communications team, you will develop engaging content that supports student recruitment, institutional reputation and engagement.

What You'll Do

  • Proactively identify and develop student, staff and institutional stories aligned with Melbourne Polytechnic’s strategic and Marketing and Communications priorities, developing story concepts, narratives and appropriate visual treatments
  • Plan and deliver end-to-end video and photographic content using professional-grade equipment and contemporary production techniques, including filming, photography, editing and optimisation for multiple channels
  • Manage Melbourne Polytechnic’s social media accounts, including content planning, scheduling, publishing, performance monitoring and the triage and response to inbound messages and comments
  • Maintain and lead updates to the Melbourne Polytechnic Social Media Policy and provide guidance on appropriate social media and visual content use in accordance with policy, brand and reputational requirements
  • Build effective relationships across teaching areas and support functions to identify stories and coordinate content capture, including collaboration with senior leaders and the Office of the Chief Executive on approved high-profile and executive-level content
  • Brief and manage external videography, photography and production suppliers where required, providing clear direction and monitoring quality, timelines and value for money
  • Manage permission-to-publish processes and content consent records, ensuring compliance with privacy, child safety and Melbourne Polytechnic requirements and appropriately managing operational and reputational risks
  • Provide specialist advice in visual storytelling, videography, photography and social media practice, monitoring emerging formats, contemporary practices and audience behaviours to support continuous improvement
  • Contribute specialist expertise to major Institute events and priority Marketing and Communications activities as required

What You'll Bring

  • Demonstrated professional experience in videography, photography and visual content production, with the capability to independently deliver end-to-end visual storytelling projects from concept development through filming, editing and multi-channel distribution
  • Demonstrated proficiency in professional-grade videography and photography equipment and industry-standard editing software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Strong visual storytelling and narrative development skills, with the ability to translate strategic objectives into clear, authentic and engaging content for diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated expertise in social media practice, including content planning and publishing, audience engagement, content suitability, performance monitoring and reputational risk management
  • Sound judgement and ability to independently assess content suitability, permissions, privacy considerations and reputational risks associated with public-facing visual and social media content
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills, including demonstrated experience interviewing students, staff and stakeholders and working effectively with senior leaders and executive offices
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple content projects and competing priorities while maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy and timely delivery
  • Experience briefing and managing external creative or production suppliers and ensuring agreed quality, timelines and value for money
  • Ability to work effectively across a multi-campus environment and attend events and activities as required
