Context Layer Lead / Developer

Role: We are seeking a highly skilled Context Layer Lead / Developer with expertise in Snowflake and/or Databricks to design, develop, and govern the enterprise semantic/context layer that powers analytics, AI, reporting, and business consumption across the organization. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in data warehousing, dimensional modeling, metadata management, business semantic layers, and modern cloud data platforms. The role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, data engineering teams, analytics teams, and product owners to ensure business-ready, trusted, and reusable data assets.

Key Responsibilities

Context Layer Design & Development

• Design and implement enterprise context/semantic layers on Snowflake and/or Databricks.
• Develop business-friendly data models that abstract underlying data complexity.
• Define and maintain standardized business entities, KPIs, metrics, dimensions, and hierarchies.
• Create reusable data products and business consumption layers for reporting, AI, and analytics.

Data Modeling

• Design logical and physical data models.
• Develop dimensional models including facts, dimensions, hierarchies, and conformed dimensions.
• Ensure consistency across commercial, customer, product, territory, and transactional subject areas.

Pharma Metadata & Data Governance

• Define and manage metadata standards and business glossaries.
• Maintain lineage and traceability between source systems, transformed datasets, and business consumption layers.
• Partner with data governance teams on data cataloging and master data initiatives.

Business Collaboration

• Work closely with business stakeholders to understand reporting and analytics requirements.
• Translate business requirements into scalable semantic and contextual models.
• Facilitate workshops to define KPIs, metrics, and business rules.

Platform Engineering

• Develop data models and curated layers within Snowflake and Databricks environments.
• Optimize performance of semantic views and analytical datasets.
• Implement reusable frameworks for metric calculations and reporting consistency.

Quality & Governance

• Establish standards for context layer development.
• Conduct code reviews and design reviews.
• Ensure adherence to data quality, security, and compliance requirements.
• Support release planning, testing, and deployment activities.

Leadership Responsibilities (Lead Role)

• Mentor junior developers and data engineers.
• Drive solution design discussions.
• Coordinate across data engineering, analytics, reporting, and business teams.
• Ensure delivery aligns with architecture standards and governance frameworks.
