Continuing Education - Conversational Spanish Instructor

CONTINUING EDUCATION – CONVERSATIONAL SPANISH INSTRUCTOR TRUMAN COLLEGE Truman College Continuing Education is currently seeking an instructor for Conversational Spanish. Essential Duties

• Design courses to meet learning outcomes and promote students’ active participation in their own learning.
• Create an effective learning environment that includes reading, writing, listening, and speaking strategies, focusing on conversational skills.
• Help students reach their academic, personal and career goals for speaking Spanish. Foster a safe environment that respects the diversity of people and ideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn.
• Answer student inquiries in a courteous and professional manner.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in oral and written Spanish language. Must be a native speaker or have appropriate educational background
• Ability to teach online via Zoom or in person
• Teaching experience preferred but not required
• Knowledge of Brightspace preferred but not required
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse group of staff and students
• Ability to teach the Spanish language to a diverse, multi-lingual student population with varied degrees of proficiency
• A commitment to the open access mission of the community college
