What they need
Job Overview
We are seeking a Contract Attorney to join our growing Texas-based civil practice. Our work spans a broad range of civil matters, with a primary focus on commercial and real estate litigation, complemented by probate and transactional work. We do not handle criminal or family law matters.
Our firm consists of eight attorneys supported by a growing staff, with offices in DFW and Austin. While this is a fully remote position, candidates must be licensed in Texas and currently based in the Austin metropolitan area to support local court proceedings and firm needs.
This opportunity is ideally suited for an entrepreneurial, self-directed litigator looking to maintain flexibility while managing a dynamic caseload within a collaborative firm environment. Compensation is competitive and structured on a fee-collected percentage basis.
We value advocates who write with clarity, precision, and authority; construct strong evidentiary records; and command hearings and client interactions with confidence. Strong research skills, deep familiarity with the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure and Texas Property Code, and strategic litigation posture are essential. Experience in real estate or probate litigation is strongly preferred, though experienced civil litigators are encouraged to apply.
Compensation
This is a contract (1099) position. Attorneys receive 33% of collected receivables attributable to their work.
Compensation is directly tied to productivity and collections; there is no base salary.
The firm provides administrative support, infrastructure, and access to firm matters, but attorneys are expected to take ownership of their caseload and workflow.
Duties
- Manage assigned matters from intake through resolution, including developing case strategy and advancing litigation without extensive supervision.
- Conduct legal research and apply findings to case strategy and client advisement.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, contracts, and correspondence with precision and professionalism.
- Communicate directly with clients regarding case status, strategy, and expectations.
- Appear in hearings, mediations, and negotiations as needed.
- Coordinate with opposing counsel, experts, witnesses, and court personnel.
- Maintain organized files and ensure compliance with deadlines and procedural requirements.
- Proactively identify opportunities to expand or develop client matters where appropriate.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Texas.
- Strong writing and analytical skills, with the ability to produce clear and persuasive work product.
- Familiarity with Texas civil procedure and litigation practice.
- Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and independently move cases forward.
- Professional judgment, responsiveness, and strong client communication skills.
- Prior experience in civil litigation is required.
