Contract Controls Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Contract Controls Engineer who can independently perform PLC software modifications, testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and documentation activities for retrofit projects in the UK.

Mandatory Requirements

• Valid permit or right to work in the United Kingdom.

• Minimum 8 to 9 years of experience in controls engineering and industrial automation.

• Strong hands-on experience with Siemens TIA Portal, including PLC software development, modification, commissioning, and troubleshooting.

• Good proficiency in Siemens STL (Statement List) programming language, including understanding and modifying existing code.

• Experience in retrofit, RMR, brownfield, modernization, or system-upgrade projects.

• Ability to understand existing control systems and handle assigned activities independently with minimal supervision.

• Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, testing, and validation skills.

• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

Expected Responsibilities

• Review and modify existing PLC software using TIA Portal and STL.

• Perform PLC testing, I/O checks, commissioning, and site support.

• Diagnose faults and resolve control-system issues.

• Execute functional testing and validate software changes.

• Update software records, change logs, test results, and technical documentation.

• Coordinate with site teams, customers, and project stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in material handling, warehouse automation, conveyors, sorters, ASRS, airport, or distribution systems.

• Experience with Siemens HMI/SCADA systems and industrial communication networks.

• Previous experience with Vanderlande SSS library.

• Willingness to travel within the UK according to project requirements.
