Contract Manager

An established civil engineering and infrastructure contractor is looking for an experienced Contracts Manager to join their team.

Responsibilities for Contracts Manager:

• Ensure projects are planned and programmed to the level of detail required for site teams to deliver without delays
• Monitor project resources, challenge overspend, and identify efficiencies to improve programme and margin
• Ensure commercial plans and end-of-life forecasts are in place and monitored monthly
• Review CVRs monthly with project teams and implement necessary actions
• Review and challenge project teams on Cost Plans, identifying risks and opportunities
• Ensure correct commercial engagement of subcontractors and compliance with commercial policies
• Produce and analyse progress reports, updated costs, and forecasts
• Manage both temporary and permanent design to meet project requirements
• Work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure direct workforce is allocated in line with programme
• Set the highest standards of HS&E leadership, ensuring compliance with procedures and legal obligations
• Liaise with third parties to ensure compliance with HAUC, NRSWA, Chapter 8, and other regulatory standards
• Ensure ITPs and QA Files are produced and maintained, promoting best practice throughout
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, chairing and leading customer meetings

Essential Requirements for Contracts Manager:

• Proven experience as a Contracts Manager within the water, utilities, or civil engineering infrastructure sector
• Hands-on experience delivering large infrastructure schemes including pipelines, tunnelling, and pump stations
• Experience working within a direct delivery contractor model managing own workforce
• Strong knowledge of NEC contract including Early Warning and Compensation Event mechanisms
• Good working knowledge of CDM regulations**,** Design Management, Programme & Risk Management, and cost control
• Experience in pre-qualification and tendering for multi-disciplinary projects
• Experience managing HAUC, NRSWA, and Chapter 8 regulatory compliance
• HNC, HND, or Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent
• SMSTS and CSCS card
• Excellent people management, influencing, and mentoring skills
• Proficiency in MS Project; P6 an advantage

Desirable:

• CEng MICE or equivalent
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate
