What they need
GENERAL CONTRACTOR SOLUTIONS SPECIALIST
TEXAS / CONTRACTOR SALES / FIELD-BASED
01
COMPANY OVERVIEW
FST is a specialty subcontractor specializing in concrete quality control. We’re deeply engaged from specification through installation, serving as a trusted partner throughout the project lifecycle.
Headquartered in San Jose, California, FST also operates an office in Southern California, supporting projects nationwide. Our flagship system, VS309, can be—and has been—successfully utilized on projects across the United States.
Our mission is to drive innovation in concrete construction by integrating advanced technology to save time, reduce costs, and enhance sustainability.
Our passion is delivering the flattest, strongest concrete possible—eliminating cracking, preventing moisture issues, and achieving near-perfection from day one.
This is the spirit we hold ourselves to at FST: Proud of what we’ve built. Relentless about where we’re going. If that sounds like you, keep reading.
02
VS309 OVERVIEW
VS309 is more than just an ASTM C309-compliant moisture cure—it’s also a proactive moisture mitigation tool, and an advanced real-time QA/QC oversight system that leverages 3D laser scanning technology during the live placement of wet structural concrete. This technology monitors and corrects imperfections as they happen, scanning bent plates, forms, structural beams, and more in real time. VS309 offers up to a 15-year moisture guarantee, ensuring your concrete will be ready for floor finishes, guaranteed.
Combined with a proprietary curing formula, VS309 delivers precise hydration and curing, consistently achieving exceptional FF/FL values and dramatically reducing the risk of:
- Costly moisture or leveling remediation
- Schedule delays due to slab rework
- Flooring and finish failures
- Unforeseen change orders or conflicts at handoff
- Post-installation slab curling or structural cracks
Bottom line: By investing just a few dollars per square foot upfront, owners routinely avoid 4–5 times that cost in backend remediation, rework, delays, and failures.
03
THE OPPORTUNITY IN TEXAS
Texas is one of the largest and fastest-growing construction markets in the country, and it runs on relationships. General Contractors, Developers, and Owners here do business with people they know, trust, and have seen show up—repeatedly. A new technology does not win on specifications alone. It wins because someone credible earned a seat at the table long before the bid.
FST has already built a Texas pipeline of more than 80 projects representing over $40 million in potential opportunity, and our system solves problems Texas contractors face every day. What we need is the person who will turn that early momentum into lasting relationships—putting FST’s name, and their own, in front of the right people across the market and staying at it until the market knows us.
04
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR: A HUNTER
This is not an order-taking role, and it is not a role for someone who waits for leads. We are hiring someone relentless, driven, and passionate about what they do: a hunter who gets energy from walking into a room where nobody knows them and leaving with a relationship. This person gets the job done and does whatever it takes to do it.
The person who succeeds here understands the timeline and embraces it. Nothing sells today, and probably nothing sells in six months; it may be a year or more before the first VS309 award. Every day brings something new, but the goal never changes: move our projects forward and build awareness of FST and VS309 across Texas and the greater Western Central region. Wake up, advance every pursuit one step, and earn the trust of our customers.
You are this person if you:
- Hunt by default. You open doors yourself. You don’t need a lead list, a warm introduction, or a reason to make the next call.
- Play the long game without losing urgency. You are patient on the outcome and relentless on the activity. A long cycle motivates you instead of draining you.
- Treat relationships as the business. You remember the details—the project, the family, the last conversation—and follow up before anyone has to ask.
- Show up. Jobsites, lunch-and-learns, association events, GC meetings, a coffee across town. In Texas, presence is credibility.
- Lead with generosity. You help first: make an introduction, share a useful insight, solve a problem for a prospect with no promise of return. People remember who made them look good.
- Listen before you pitch. You ask thoughtful questions, uncover what the GC or Owner is really worried about, and position VS309 around that—not around a script.
- Figure it out on your own. You don’t need to be told more than once, and you don’t need to be told what to do next. You see what needs to happen and take initiative.
- Hold yourself accountable. You own your numbers, your calendar, and your follow-through. Persistence is a habit, not a mood.
05
POSITION OVERVIEW
The General Contractor Solutions Specialist is responsible for developing and managing relationships with General Contractors, Developers, Construction Managers, and Owners to drive adoption of FST’s VS309 system on active and upcoming construction projects in Texas.
This is a field-driven, preconstruction-oriented sales role designed for professionals with prior experience working for a General Contractor or in contractor-focused sales. The position focuses on early engagement, risk identification, and positioning VS309 as a front-end concrete QA/QC and moisture performance system that protects schedule, cost, and downstream trade coordination.
This role works in close partnership with our architectural specialists, other sales teams, and our covering trade partners throughout the region, ensuring alignment across pursuit strategy, client messaging, and execution from preconstruction through delivery.
Travel throughout Texas and the greater Western Central region is expected, with additional travel to other target regions as needed, to maintain regional presence and jobsite engagement.
06
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Relentless Market Prospecting & Relationship Building
- Proactively identify and pursue General Contractors, Developers, Construction Managers, and Owners across Texas—daily, without waiting for inbound leads.
- Build a deep, trusted network in the Texas construction community; become the person contractors call when concrete, flatness, or moisture risk comes up.
- Make consistent in-person contact: jobsite visits, office drop-ins, coffees, lunches, and meetings with decision-makers and preconstruction teams.
- Maintain a disciplined follow-up cadence, remembering what matters to each contact and staying present through long project cycles.
- Meet FST’s sales activity standard of 30+ Salesforce-logged calls per week, in addition to in-person meetings and events.
- Raise FST and VS309 brand awareness across the Texas market through events, associations, and direct outreach.
General Contractor, Developer & Owner Engagement
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with General Contractors, Construction Managers, Developers, and Owners.
- Engage GC teams early during preconstruction, budgeting, and concrete planning to introduce VS309 as a proactive risk-mitigation and quality-assurance system.
- Participate in preconstruction meetings, constructability reviews, and concrete scope discussions.
- Clearly communicate VS309’s value related to moisture performance, flatness outcomes, schedule certainty, and reduced downstream risk.
- Support Owners and Developers by articulating cost certainty, schedule protection, and long-term performance benefits.
Preconstruction & Project Development
- Identify projects where VS309 aligns with elevated concrete, moisture, or schedule risk profiles (healthcare, data centers, higher-ed, civic, mission-critical).
- Work alongside GC estimating and preconstruction teams to integrate VS309 into budgets, scopes, and value discussions.
- Coordinate with concrete and flooring stakeholders to ensure proper understanding of VS309 scope, responsibilities, and interfaces.
- Support buyout and award discussions by reinforcing VS309’s role in protecting the project as a whole, not just a single trade.
- Keep every active pursuit moving forward each week with a clear next step and owner.
Business Development
- Build and manage a Texas pipeline of GC-led opportunities across assigned markets, from first contact through award.
- Leverage prior GC or contractor sales relationships to expand FST’s footprint within key accounts.
- Collaborate with FST leadership and the VS309 Sales Representative to prioritize strategic pursuits and national account opportunities.
- Represent FST at industry events, GC forums, DBIA functions, local association meetings, and construction trade shows.
Internal Collaboration & Execution
- Work in close coordination with the VS309 Solution Specialist to align pursuit strategy, account coverage, and client messaging.
- Collaborate with FST technical, estimating, field, and VS309 sales teams to support proposals, presentations, pricing strategies, and project pursuits.
- Ensure internal clarity on account ownership, pursuit roles, and next steps to maintain a consistent and professional client experience.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, opportunities, and project status in Salesforce and internal tracking systems.
- Participate in weekly sales and operations meetings to review pipeline health, strategy, and active pursuits.
- Support disciplined handoff from sales to operations—working jointly with the VS309 Sales Rep and field teams—to ensure continuity from preconstruction through execution.
07
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working for a General Contractor or in contractor-focused sales within the construction industry.
- An established network in the Texas construction market.
- Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and project tracking tools.
