What they need

About us:

LITCO Industries is seeking a Contracts Administration Engineer to manage the commercial performance of awarded projects and ensure that completed work, contractual changes, and additional entitlements are properly measured, valued, documented, and recovered.

This is a post-contract position and is best suited to professionals experienced in project commercial administration rather than tendering or pre-contract estimation.

Your Role:

You will be involved throughout the commercial life of the project, beginning after contract award and continuing through monthly valuation, payment certification, variations, claims, subcontract management, cost control, negotiations, and final account closure.

Key Accountabilities:

Contract Administration

  • Review executed contracts and establish a clear understanding of commercial terms, scope, payment conditions, measurement rules, and contractual obligations.
  • Monitor contractual notices, instructions, approvals, submissions, and commercial deadlines.
  • Maintain registers for variations, claims, payments, correspondence, and contractual changes.
  • Identify commercial risks and protect the company's contractual entitlements.

Monthly Valuation & IPA

  • Prepare monthly Interim Payment Applications using verified site measurements and project progress.
  • Assess quantities completed and coordinate with site teams to validate work done.
  • Prepare valuation backup including measurement sheets, progress records, approved drawings, and supporting documentation.
  • Follow up certification and payment of submitted applications.
  • Reconcile certified amounts with submitted values and investigate discrepancies.

Variations & Additional Works

  • Review revised drawings, client instructions, site instructions, scope changes, and additional requirements.
  • Identify potential variations at an early stage.
  • Prepare quantity calculations, rate build-ups, quotations, and commercial submissions.
  • Track the complete lifecycle of variations from identification and submission through negotiation and approval.
  • Support commercial negotiations relating to rates, quantities, additional works, omissions, and remeasurement.

Claims Management

  • Prepare and substantiate contractual and commercial claims.
  • Compile supporting records for delay, disruption, prolongation, additional works, changes, and other contractual impacts.
  • Coordinate with planning teams to obtain schedule information and project records required for claim substantiation.
  • Maintain claim documentation and monitor responses and settlements.

Subcontract Commercial Management

  • Review subcontract agreements, scope allocations, payment applications, measurements, variations, and claims.
  • Evaluate subcontractor work progress and prepare payment recommendations.
  • Manage subcontractor commercial reconciliation and final account.

Cost & Final Account

  • Monitor actual project cost against budget, contract value, approved variations, commitments, and forecast final cost.
  • Prepare commercial forecasts and cost reports for project management.
  • Identify potential cost overruns and commercial exposure.
  • Reconcile project accounts and lead the preparation of the final account.
  • Ensure outstanding variations, claims, payments, deductions, and commercial matters are resolved before project close-out.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Commercial Management, or equivalent.
  • Solid post-award commercial experience on construction or engineering projects.
  • Practical knowledge of interim payment applications, valuations, variations, claims, remeasurement, contract administration, subcontract accounts, cost control, and final accounts.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial procedures.
  • Confident in commercial negotiation with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
