Contracts Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for a Civil Contracts Engineer with good experience in construction projects to manage contractual and commercial activities related to project execution.

The candidate will be responsible for reviewing contracts, monitoring contractual obligations, managing variations and claims, supporting billing and payment follow-up, and coordinating with clients, consultants, project teams and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

• Review project contracts, BOQs, specifications, drawings and commercial terms.
• Understand contract scope, exclusions, payment terms, timelines and obligations.
• Monitor contractual requirements during project execution.
• Prepare and maintain records for variations, additional works and change orders.
• Identify and document delays, disruptions and their impact on project cost and schedule.
• Prepare and support Extension of Time (EOT) submissions and claims.
• Coordinate with the Project Manager and site team to collect supporting documents and evidence.
• Review quantities, measurements and contract rates for billing.
• Coordinate with the client/consultant for work certification and payment-related matters.
• Monitor subcontractor contracts, work orders, variations and contractual compliance.
• Maintain proper records of correspondence, MOMs, notices, approvals and contractual documents.
• Support the Project Manager in resolving contractual and commercial issues.
• Assist in preparing commercial reports and project status reports.
• Ensure contractual risks are identified and communicated to management.
• Coordinate with Finance, Projects, Procurement and other departments on contract-related matters.

Candidate Profile

• B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience in civil construction contracts / commercial / project management.
• Good understanding of construction contracts, BOQ, measurements, variations, claims and EOT.
• Experience in handling client, consultant and subcontractor coordination.
• Good knowledge of project documentation and contract correspondence.
• Ability to understand drawings, specifications and scope of work.
• Good communication, negotiation and analytical skills.
• Good working knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office.
• Experience in preparing contractual letters, claims and commercial documentation will be an advantage.

Pay: ₹600,000.00 - ₹800,000.00 per year
