Contracts manager - Civil

WHO WE ARE

A construction company operating within the Civil engineering, General Building disciplines in and around the Republic of South Africa.

PURPOSE AND OVERVIEW OF THE POST

The entity is looking to hire a competent and experienced Contracts Manager with strong commercial and operations Management Background to join our team, to lead, managing contractual and costs elements, Drafting and negotiating contracts, General construction project management, including company compliance with policies and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum Civil Engineering Qualification NQF level 7 (e.g. BTech Civil Engineering)
• Compulsory proven relevant experience 7 years + in General Building and Civil Construction works (With a minimum of 3 Years as a Contracts Manager)
• Registration with ECSA or SACPCMP is a requirement.

KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

Essential:

• BEng, BSc Engineering or BTech in Civil Engineering (NQF Level 7) or a higher qualification
• Minimum of 3+ Years as a Contracts Manager
• Strong understanding of contract law, construction methodology, and project delivery

frameworks

• Budgeting, financial reporting, risk management and financial record keeping
• Experience in managing Sub-contractors and general labourers’ payrolls and other employment (subbies and general labourers’ contracts)
• Excellent report writing skills and cost management skills
• Valid driver’s license
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Flexibility, teamwork and planning
• Strong organizing skills with a problem-solving skill
• Attention to detail
• Sound knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993
• Sound Knowledge and Understanding of Construction Regulations 2014
• Sound knowledge and Understanding of JBCC Series 2000 and GCC 2010 & 2015, Knowledgeability in FIDIC and NEC would be an added advantage.
• Good Interpretation of Technical drawings and Specifications
• Basic Knowledge of Labour Law and Relations
• Strong Knowledge of Quality Management Procedures in line with ISO 9001
• Sound knowledge and understanding of Payments and Cost management

Systems.

• Strong Team Leadership Skills
• Sound Understanding of Tendering Procedures and Documentation
• Experience with MS Projects
• Experience with Buildsmart accounting software and CCS
