What they need
Based in Auckland and considering a move south? Christchurch has plenty happening across the commercial sector, and with relocation assistance available, the move could be easier than you think. If you're ready for a change of scenery without stepping away from the level of work and responsibility you're used to, we'd love to hear from you.
If you're the type of person who enjoys being across the whole project, not just watching it happen, this could be the step you've been looking for.
We're on the hunt for an experienced Electrical Contracts Manager who knows commercial electrical inside and out, for our very well established Christchurch busniness. They need someone who can confidently move between estimating, financial management, client relationships and project delivery while leading a high performing team.
You'll be trusted to take projects from tender through to completion, making sure they're delivered safely, on time, on budget and to the standard your clients expect. This isn't a desk only role. It's a leadership position where you'll have genuine influence over projects, people and the future growth of the business.
What's in it for you?
- Up to $120k salary, company vehicle (Ute or RAV4), phone, and laptop provided
- Relocation assistance available for the right person moving to Christchurch
- Long term career progression into senior leadership
- Established commercial contractor with a strong pipeline of work
- Autonomy to run projects your way
- Supportive management team that values experience and initiative
- Diverse commercial projects across Canterbury
Role:
You'll be responsible for managing multiple commercial electrical projects from tender award right through to practical completion. That means overseeing budgets, forecasting, contract administration, procurement and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.
A key part of the role is commercial estimation. You'll review drawings and specifications, prepare competitive tenders, engage with suppliers and subcontractors, identify risks and opportunities, and help secure future work for the business. Your commercial mindset will play a big part in maintaining profitability while remaining competitive in the market.
You'll work closely with Project Managers, Site Supervisors and electricians to keep projects running smoothly, resolve technical or commercial issues as they arise, and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors. Alongside project delivery, you'll mentor your team, encourage continuous improvement and contribute to the ongoing growth of the business. Health, safety and quality are non-negotiables, and you'll ensure every project meets company standards and industry requirements.
Our client has been part of the electrical industry in Christchurch for many years and has earned a reputation for delivering high-quality commercial electrical projects across the region. They have a strong leadership team, an excellent culture and a loyal workforce, with many of their people choosing to stay long term.
