Control Systems Engineer

We are seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join a highly advanced engineering environment supporting the development, commissioning, and maintenance of automated industrial systems.

This role is ideal for an engineer with strong PLC programming expertise and hands-on experience of servo motion control systems who enjoys working on complex automation projects from concept through to commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and modify PLC software for automated machinery and production systems.
• Program and commission servo motion systems, drives and associated control hardware.
• Develop HMI and SCADA applications to support operational requirements.
• Carry out system testing, fault finding and root cause analysis.
• Support machine commissioning, validation and performance optimisation.
• Work closely with mechanical, electrical and manufacturing engineering teams.
• Produce technical documentation, functional specifications and test procedures.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities across automation and control systems.

Required Experience

• Experience programming PLCs within industrial automation environments.
• Strong knowledge of servo motion control and drive systems.
• Experience with one or more PLC platforms such as Siemens, Beckhoff, Rockwell Allen-Bradley or Mitsubishi.
• Understanding of industrial communications protocols such as Profinet, EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP or Profibus.
• Experience commissioning and troubleshooting automated equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
