Controller

Our client- a boutique Law Firm- is in search of a Controller to drive the accuracy, organization, and transparency of the firm’s finances and deliver clear reporting on performance and key metrics.

Base Salary + Sign on bonus + Relocation stipend if needed + Monthly bonus payout + EXCELLENT total rewards.

Key Outcomes

• Prepare and deliver accurate monthly financial statements and executive reporting packages, including all supporting schedules and documentation.
• Ensure timely review, verification, and payment of monthly sales and gross receipts taxes.
• Monitor and reconcile key holding accounts on a daily basis, including accounts payable, credit cards, payroll, and tax liabilities, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain and reconcile ownership-related financial accounts with a high degree of confidentiality and precision.

Examples of Responsibilities

• Partner with Ownership, the Executive Leadership Team, and the CFO in regular financial review and planning meetings.
• Review and audit settlement reporting and financial activity to ensure accuracy and adherence to established procedures.
• Provide ongoing oversight, guidance, and quality control for the bookkeeping function, including weekly review of completed work.
• Lead the annual budgeting process and facilitate quarterly budget reviews with Ownership and the CFO.
• Serve as a key financial resource to firm leadership and provide operational and administrative support as needed.

Reporting Structure

• Reports directly to the Operations Director.
• Provides leadership, oversight, and mentoring to the Bookkeeping Team.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Experienced accounting and finance professional with a hands-on leadership style and exceptional attention to detail.
• Demonstrated expertise managing month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, tax compliance, internal controls, and team development.
• Strong communicator with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization while maintaining a high level of accountability and professionalism.
• Organized, proactive, and capable of balancing strategic financial responsibilities with day-to-day operational execution.
