STRATEGIC CONTROLLER

Are you a finance professional who sees beyond traditional spreadsheet reporting? We are seeking a forward-facing, data-driven Strategic Controller to lead our financial operations and play a key role in shaping our business direction.

We are fish importers/distributors working with fishing fleets worldwide. Now in our third generation, we are already preparing for the next. Fish catches and customer preferences are constantly evolving. You will actively deploy ai and your own data-driven experience to analyze the potential benefits and risks of new opportunities, as well as our current operations. You will work with our small dynamic leadership team to bring on new accounting software, replacing our 20-year-old highly customized system. As a key advisor, you will leverage financial data, modern ai workflows, and strategic analytics to drive real growth.

As our Strategic Controller, you will also be responsible for all GAAP compliant accounting procedures, including:

1. Preparing monthly financial statements

2. Preparing yearly and, as needed, additional schedules for review and tax preparation by our outside CPA.

3. Taking charge of all human resources functions in liaison with our current PEO, ADP, Including maintaining personnel files, hiring, offer letters, non-competes, payroll processing, benefits selection and enrollment, vacation scheduling, discipline, terminations and communication of company policy to staff.

4. Preparing agreements including employment agreements, NDA's, supplier agreements, New York and Florida lease agreements and renewals, credit lines and contracts.

5. Reviewing and negotiating all insurance policies including general liability, product liability, cargo insurance and customer credit.

6. Setting up wire templates and overseeing payments by wire transfer to fish suppliers.

7. Monitoring daily activity in our bank accounts, anticipating, correcting and preventing errors. Setting up lines of credit.

8. Supervising accounts payable and accounts receivable employees, establishing customer credit lines, enforcing collections, establishing supplier and vendor payment terms, monitoring customs duties. Auditing the general ledger

9. Driving financial success by leading budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring, ensuring that financial decisions support the company's overall strategy.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
