Role Description The Controller is a full-time remote role responsible for overseeing accounting operations and financial reporting for MedHQ and/or its healthcare clients. This role manages the month-end close process, prepares and reviews financial statements, ensures compliance with accounting standards, and maintains internal controls. The Controller monitors cash flow, budgets, and forecasts, and provides financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising accounting staff, reviewing journal entries and reconciliations, coordinating audits, and partnering with leadership to improve financial processes and systems. The individual in this role will collaborate with cross-functional teams, support client-facing financial inquiries, and help maintain accurate, timely, and transparent financial information.

Qualifications

• Strong financial accounting and reporting skills, including experience with month-end close, general ledger management, and preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling to support data-driven decision-making.
• Knowledge of internal controls, compliance, and audit processes, with the ability to implement and monitor effective financial control frameworks.
• Proficiency with accounting and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar), and advanced Excel skills for financial analysis and reporting.
• Leadership skills and experience managing or mentoring accounting or finance team members in a remote or distributed environment.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders and clients.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
• Prior experience in healthcare services, professional services, or multi-entity environments is beneficial.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and client leadership.
