Easy Company is building a modern accounting and CFO services firm for growing businesses. We believe great accounting teams should do more than keep the books clean. They should create clarity, improve processes, use technology intelligently, and help business owners make better decisions.

We’re looking for a Controller who can take ownership of the accounting function across a portfolio of companies while helping us continue building a smarter, more efficient way to deliver accounting services.

You’ll join an existing team of two and play a major role in how we operate as we grow.

What You'll Own

This is a hands-on Controller role. You won't just review work from a distance.

You'll be responsible for:

• Managing the monthly close process for a portfolio business with multiple operating subsidiaries
• Reviewing financial statements and ensuring accounts are accurate, reconciled, and ready for management
• Managing and improving A/R and A/P processes across current clients
• Reviewing client payroll reporting and identifying discrepancies before they become problems
• Maintaining strong balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules
• Assisting with annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and cash-flow forecasting
• Reviewing financial performance and helping identify unusual trends, variances, or accounting issues
• Supporting multi-entity accounting, intercompany activity, and consolidations
• Creating and improving accounting processes as new clients and entities are added
• Helping maintain consistent financial reporting standards across our client base
• Working directly with the Easy Company team to continuously improve how we deliver accounting services

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• At least 2 years in a Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, Controller, or comparable role
• 3+ years of hands-on QuickBooks Online experience
• Advanced Excel skills — you should be genuinely comfortable building and reviewing spreadsheets, not just using SUM and VLOOKUP
• Strong understanding of accrual accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statements
• Ability to independently investigate an accounting issue and figure out what happened
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Clear written and verbal communication
• Comfortable working remotely and managing multiple companies and deadlines at the same time

What This Role Is Not

This isn't a traditional Controller position where you inherit the same processes and repeat them forever.

We're still building.

Some processes will already be established. Others will need to be improved. Some will need to be created from scratch.

You'll have a real opportunity to influence how our accounting operation works as we grow.

Compensation & Work Environment

• $90,000–$105,000 base salary, depending on experience and skill set
• Fully remote
