About the Role

We're hiring a Controller to own the accounting and financial planning function for an established electrical power equipment and services company. You'll run the close, keep the books clean and GAAP-compliant, and give leadership a clear read on where margin is being made and lost across products, shops, and service work.

The company designs, remanufactures, and services power distribution equipment for industrial, utility, and mission-critical customers, which means real inventory, real production, and real job costs. That's why cost accounting experience matters here. The right person knows how standard costs, labor, overhead, and inventory valuation flow into the P&L, and can explain it to an operations leader without losing them.

What You'll Do

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, producing accurate financial statements on a predictable timeline
• Build and maintain cost accounting practices, including standard costing, inventory valuation, job costing, and variance analysis
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and FP&A, turning the numbers into insight leadership can act on
• Partner with operations and sales on pricing, margin, and profitability by product line and customer
• Design and enforce internal controls, and manage the annual audit and relationships with outside tax advisors
• Lead and develop the accounting team, setting a high bar for accuracy and ownership
• Improve systems, reporting, and processes as the business grows
• Handle cash management, working capital, and banking relationships

Qualifications

Core Experience

• 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including time in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accounting leadership role
• Cost accounting experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or distribution environment is strongly preferred
• Strong command of GAAP, the full close cycle, and financial statement preparation
• Hands-on FP&A experience: budgets, forecasts, and variance reporting that leadership relies on
• Experience managing audits and building internal controls

Background and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred
• Comfortable working in an ERP environment and advanced in Excel
• Proven people leader who can coach a team while staying hands-on
• Able to translate financial detail into plain-language recommendations for non-finance leaders
