Controller

StevenDouglas has been retained on an outstanding Controller career opportunity with a Dallas, Texas based company in the healthcare industry space.

We are seeking a Controller to lead the accounting function and help build the financial infrastructure needed to support continued growth.

The Controller will oversee the company's accounting, financial reporting, controls, and close process while serving as a key partner to the business. This individual will work closely with the Head of Finance and lead a small, high-performing accounting team. The ideal candidate will bring strong healthcare experience, a hands-on approach, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, growing, PE-backed environment.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close, financial reporting, and accounting operations.
• Oversee general ledger, A/R, A/P, reconciliations, and cash management.
• Maintain strong accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Partner closely with the Head of Finance on financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and business performance.
• Provide leadership with clear and actionable financial reporting and analysis.
• Partner with operational and commercial leaders to understand financial performance and key business drivers.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a small accounting team.
• Improve and scale accounting processes, systems, and controls as the company grows.
• Support external audits, tax activities, and other financial compliance requirements.
• Partner with the PE sponsor and executive leadership as needed.

Qualifications

• CPA license is required.
• Healthcare experience required.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum of 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including meaningful controllership responsibility.
• Strong GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and month-end close experience.
• Experience in a high-growth environment.
• PE-backed company experience strongly preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
• Hands-on, detail-oriented approach with the ability to operate strategically and tactically.
