Controller

Green Lion Search Group is recruiting a hands-on Controller for a transportation company in Northwest Austin. Working closely with leadership, this person will own accounting, financial reporting, and cash management, with support for routine transaction processing. The role also includes HR and IT oversight.

Responsibilities

• Own the month-end close, reconciliations, and monthly financial statements.
• Provide variance analysis and financial insights to leadership.
• Review revenue and operating costs, including driver compensation, owner-operator settlements, and fuel.
• Manage billing, collections, accounts payable, cash flow, and payroll funding.
• Review accounting support work and maintain strong financial controls.
• Coordinate tax preparation, lender reporting, and insurance renewals with outside advisors and leadership.
• Oversee HR and IT staff and service providers.
• Develop budgeting, forecasting, and operational KPI reporting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounting experience, including ownership of the full close at a small or midsized company.
• Strong QuickBooks and Excel skills.
• Hands-on approach, strong attention to detail, and the ability to review others’ work accurately.
• Experience managing staff and working directly with business leadership.
• Transportation, trucking, logistics, or fleet-based industry experience preferred.
