We're looking for a hands-on Controller who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and wants to play a key role in scaling our finance function as we grow.
The Role
We're seeking an experienced Controller to lead our accounting operations. This role owns the full accounting cycle — from cost accounting and inventory valuation to financial reporting and internal controls — while partnering closely with plant operations, supply chain, and executive leadership to drive financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Manage cost variance analysis (material, labor, overhead), and inventory valuation/reconciliation
- Oversee physical inventory counts and cycle counts in coordination with plant operations
- Analyze manufacturing costs, margins, and productivity metrics; identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency gains
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls over inventory, fixed assets, and production accounting
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses in partnership with plant and operations leadership
- Manage fixed asset accounting, including capital expenditure tracking and depreciation
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including vendor terms, collections, cash application, and aging review
- Lead and develop the accounting team (AP, AR, cost accounting)
- Support external audits, tax filings, and lender/banking relationships
- Partner with ERP/systems teams to improve reporting accuracy and process automation
- Present financial results and key operational metrics to senior leadership
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, MBA, or CMA strongly preferred)
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment
- Public accounting experience highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting and inventory management
- Prior supervisory/management experience leading an accounting team
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Epicor, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar) and advanced Excel skills
- Solid understanding of GAAP and internal control frameworks
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Experience working cross-functionally with plant/operations leadership
What's Offered
- Competitive salary
- Medical and dental insurance
- 401(k)
- Paid time off and holidays
- Opportunity to shape the finance function of a growing manufacturer
