What you do & why it matters:

You oversee the financial accuracy and health of your client portfolio. You review accounting files, close month-ends, manage complex issues, and guide both accountants and clients. Your judgment is what turns raw numbers into clarity. When your reviews are clean and decisive, clients trust Mesa, accounting runs smoothly, and the firm stays efficient and profitable.

Core responsibilities:

1. Review monthly close packages and working papers from accountants

2. Deliver controller-level month-end reports and insights to clients

3. Handle complex accounting issues, adjustments, and technical judgments

4. Support accountants and bookkeepers with escalations

5. Own client communication on higher-level topics (cash flow, trends, issues)

6. Ensure files meet Mesa standards for accuracy and completeness

7. Identify scope changes, risks, and workflow improvements

8. Guide onboarding process for complex clients

9. Work with leadership on process, systems, and client experience improvements

Success looks like:

️ Month-ends finalized on time with strong, clean working papers

Clear, actionable communication to clients (no jargon, no confusion)

• ️ Low rework on accountant files due to strong coaching and escalation handling

• ️ Clients view you as their “financial calm” — issues get solved quickly

️ Portfolio feels organized, predictable, and under control

Requirements:

✅ 5+ years full-cycle accounting or controllership experience

✅ Strong technical accounting judgment and working paper mastery

✅ Excellent communicator — can simplify complex issues fast

✅ Organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple deadlines

✅ Thrives in a high-autonomy, high-ownership environment
