The ideal candidate will bring strong private equity fund accounting experience within an institutional investment environment and will have supported funds of approximately $800 million or greater in committed capital or assets under management. Healthcare investment experience is highly desirable.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can operate comfortably in a sophisticated fund environment, manage complex accounting and reporting requirements, partner with senior leadership, and continue strengthening the firm's financial infrastructure as it grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee accounting and financial reporting for the firm's private equity funds, related investment entities, and management company.
- Manage quarterly and annual fund close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Oversee partnership accounting, including capital activity, allocations, management fees, carried interest, and investor capital accounts.
- Manage capital calls, distributions, and related investor reporting.
- Review quarterly financial statements, LP reporting packages, and supporting schedules.
- Partner with investment professionals and senior leadership regarding portfolio activity, valuations, transactions, and fund performance.
- Coordinate with third-party fund administrators and ensure the accuracy and completeness of outsourced accounting work.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, administrators, banks, and other service providers.
- Lead annual audits and support tax compliance and preparation of partnership tax reporting.
- Support portfolio company and investment activity, including acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and other transactions.
- Assist with fund launches, new investment vehicles, co-investment entities, and other complex fund structures.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and review for members of the accounting and finance team.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, automate processes, and create efficiencies across the finance organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- Significant accounting experience within private equity, alternative investments, fund administration, or public accounting serving private equity clients.
- Direct experience supporting private equity funds of approximately $800M+ in size/AUM strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of private equity fund structures, partnership accounting, capital accounts, allocations, capital calls, distributions, and investor reporting.
- Experience managing quarterly and annual fund financial statements and audits.
- Healthcare-focused private equity or healthcare investment experience is preferred.
- Strong technical accounting foundation with excellent attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to operate in a hands-on capacity while managing multiple priorities and complex entities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with investment professionals, executives, investors, auditors, and outside service providers.
- Experience improving systems, processes, and reporting within a growing investment organization.
This individual should be comfortable working onsite, partnering closely with senior leadership and the investment team, and taking ownership of the accounting and reporting function while continually looking for opportunities to strengthen processes and create efficiencies.
