What they need
The Opportunity
Strategic Talent Partners is partnering with an established, growing organization to hire an experienced Controller. Our client operates across multiple business lines, combining product distribution, project-based work, installation and service operations. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who can confidently own accounting operations while helping the leadership team make informed financial decisions. The position offers the potential to grow into broader strategic finance responsibilities over time.
What You’ll Do
- Lead month-end close, reconciliations, financial statements and accurate reporting across multiple business lines and entities.
- Oversee and develop a small AP/AR team while strengthening processes, controls and documentation.
- Coordinate corporate tax preparation with external CPA advisors and oversee multi-state sales tax filings, registrations and compliance.
- Improve ERP reporting, job costing, work-in-progress tracking and visibility into project profitability.
- Help develop business-unit financial reporting and support budgeting, planning and financial analysis.
- Translate P&L results into clear insights for non-finance leaders and participate on the leadership team.
- Coordinate with banking, insurance and other financial partners; identify automation and system improvements.
- Contribute financial analysis to potential acquisitions or new business opportunities as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven Controller-level experience with broad ownership of accounting operations.
- Strong technical accounting, reporting, tax coordination and analytical capabilities.
- Experience with a robust ERP/accounting platform; Sage Intacct is highly preferred.
- Ability to communicate financial results and work collaboratively with business leaders.
- Comfort leading a developing team and building scalable processes in a hands-on environment.
- Project/job costing, WIP, ERP implementation, multi-entity reporting or system improvement experience is valuable.
- M&A exposure and EOS familiarity are helpful, not required.
Why Consider This Role?
You’ll join an entrepreneurial, growth-oriented business where finance has a direct voice in decisions. The right person will help improve financial visibility, support expansion and build the foundation for the company’s next stage.
