This company is a high-growth, private equity-backed organization operating across specialized service and project-based sectors. Driven by an aggressive M&A strategy and an active sponsor, the business is scaling rapidly—moving from a modest acquisition pace to an active national deal pipeline with multiple acquisitions closing in the near term.

To support this expansion, the leadership team is expanding its corporate accounting and integration capacity. We are seeking an agile, sharp, and process-minded CONTROLLER to join the team, relieve pressure on existing controllers, and support ongoing business scaling and financial operations.

Position Summary

Reporting to senior leadership, the Controller will play a key role in managing daily accounting operations, establishing robust controls, and absorbing financial oversight for newly acquired operating entities. As the company continues its aggressive growth trajectory, this individual will provide critical capacity to allow existing leadership to focus on strategic integration and systems migration across entities.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Oversight & Reporting: Oversee full-cycle month-end close, financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, and balance sheet reconciliations for assigned business entities.
• Percentage-of-Completion (POC) Accounting: Manage revenue recognition processes, revenue schedules, and tracking/reconciliation of overbillings and underbillings across project-based operations.
• M&A & Entity Integration: Partner with internal integration leads to onboard new acquisitions, clean up target entity financials, establish standard back-office processes, and transition acquired units into corporate reporting structures.
• Systems Optimization: Assist with ongoing ERP alignment and data consolidation across primary systems ( Acumatica and Deltek ).
• Process & Controls Improvement: Implement structured, scalable internal controls and accounting procedures standard in mid-market ($150M+) organizations.
• Audit Readiness: Coordinate and support annual external audit preparation and financial documentation.

Candidate Profile & Qualifications

• Experience: 5 to 10+ years of progressive accounting experience in mid-to-large-sized companies ($150M+ revenue environment preferred).
• Core Technical Expertise:
• Strong expertise in Percentage-of-Completion (POC) revenue recognition (overbillings and underbillings) is essential. Project-based or specialized services background preferred (e.g., environmental, consulting, or field services).
• Hands-on audit coordination and financial controls background.
• M&A integration experience (cleaning up trial balances, establishing proper GAAP accounting for acquired entities) is highly valued.
• Systems Experience:
• Experience with Acumatica and/or Deltek is a strong plus.
• Proficiency in handling multi-entity operations and ERP data migrations/consolidations.
• Background & Background Fit:
• Accustomed to structured, scaled corporate environments rather than purely small, founder-led back offices.
• Adaptable, proactive, and capable of operating effectively in a fast-paced, private equity-driven setting.
• Open to Growth Candidates: High-caliber Senior Accountants, Accounting Managers, or Assistant Controllers ready to take ownership of a Controller title and grow within a fast-scaling platform will be strongly considered.
