Job Title: Controller (Commercial Construction)

Location: Tewksbury, MA

Compensation: $140,000 - $175,000 Base Salary DOE + performance bonus + full benefits

About the Opportunity

Tiello is partnered with a highly regarded General Contractor in their search for a Controller (Commercial Construction) to join and grow with their team in the greater Tewskbury MA area. This is an opportunity to work directly with ownership, strengthen accounting operations, improve financial reporting, and build scalable processes to support continued growth.

Job Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Review and resolve accounting discrepancies while improving processes, accuracy, and internal controls.
• Provide ownership with clear financial visibility into profitability, cash flow, expenses, and business performance.
• Coordinate accounting personnel and collaborate with the team on tax and reporting requirements.
• Improve job costing, cost tracking, and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting.
• Partner with ownership and operations to continue building scalable financial processes supporting the team's growth.
• Oversee and coordinate the team's financial planning and reporting in accordance with GAAP while ensuring compliance with local and federal regulations
• Communicate effectively with both internal leadership, team members, and external entities

Qualifications/Requirements

• Proven experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or in a Senior Accounting leadership role with a respected General Contractor.
• Strong knowledge of financial statements, reconciliations, reporting, internal controls, and month-end close.
• Experience improving accounting processes and resolving financial discrepancies.
• Experience working with an S-Corp.
• Proficiency with Procore and/or Sage 300/Timberline.
• Self-motivated and hands-on.
• Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related, preferred.
• CPA preferred, but not required.
