Controller, Manufacturing (Multi-Site)

A private investment group that buys and holds family-founded manufacturers is hiring a Controller for three of its Chicagoland businesses. Together they bring in about $30M in revenue.

You will be the finance lead for each business. You will close the books, build cost and inventory discipline, and partner with each president and the group Head of Finance. It is a hands-on seat for someone who likes owning the numbers and fixing process.

What you'll own

• Monthly close and financial statements for three manufacturing businesses
• Cost accounting, inventory, and margin analysis
• Building ERP-based perpetual inventory
• Budgets, forecasts, and budget vs. actual reporting
• Journal entries, GL, and reconciliations
• Oversight of centralized AR/AP, payroll, and commissions
• Cash and working capital management
• Audit and bank reporting packs, quarterly shareholder reports, and year-end tax support

What you bring

• Bachelor's in Accounting or a related field
• 5+ years of manufacturing accounting (6 to 10 ideal)
• Hands-on cost accounting and inventory experience
• You've owned a monthly close and produced the financials
• A clear communicator who solves problems and takes feedback well
• Strong Excel

Nice to have

• CPA
• Plant Controller or Accounting Manager background
• Sage 100, Sage 50, or QuickBooks
• Multi-entity, private equity, or acquisition integration experience

Details

• Onsite, flexible as needed. You can sit at any of three sites: Chicago, the north suburbs, or the west suburbs
• About 10% travel between sites
• $120,000 to $150,000 base plus a 20% bonus target
• Chance to co-invest in future acquisitions
• Reports to the group Head of Finance
