What they need

We are seeking an experienced, results-driven Business Development Manager with a strong background in the trucking, transportation, freight, logistics, or factoring industries. This position is intended for an established sales professional who can bring both industry knowledge and an existing network of relationships within the transportation ecosystem. The successful candidate should be capable of contributing quickly by leveraging prior relationships with trucking companies, carriers, brokers, referral partners, industry vendors, and other transportation-related contacts to identify and develop new factoring opportunities. This is not intended to be an entry-level business development role. We are looking for someone who has demonstrated success developing business within the trucking and transportation industry, understands how relationships drive
customer acquisition in this market, and can independently manage opportunities from initial prospecting through closing. Experience with transportation factoring, accounts receivable financing, commercial finance, or financial services serving trucking companies is strongly preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● Develop new business opportunities for Thunder Funding's factoring services, with a primary focus on trucking and transportation companies.
● Leverage an existing professional network and established industry relationships to generate introductions, referrals, and prospective clients.
● Continually expand a network of trucking companies, carriers, freight brokers, industry vendors, referral partners, and other transportation professionals who may generate factoring opportunities.
● Independently identify and develop new lead sources rather than relying solely on company-generated leads.
● Prospect actively through phone calls, email, text messaging, referrals, networking, industry events, and other appropriate channels.
● Build and maintain long-term relationships with prospective clients, existing clients, referral partners, and other transportation-industry contacts.
● Manage opportunities throughout the full sales lifecycle, from initial introduction and qualification through pricing, documentation, and closing.
● Understand prospective clients' businesses, cash-flow needs, accounts receivable, customer concentrations, and operating characteristics in order to appropriately position the company's factoring solutions.
● Evaluate accounts receivable and aging information at a preliminary level and help identify appropriate factoring structures.
● Clearly communicate Thunder Funding's products, services, pricing, and value proposition to prospective clients and referral sources.
● Negotiate pricing and transaction terms within established company guidelines.
● Collaborate with sales management when specialized pricing, programs, or deal structures may be necessary to win business.
● Prepare, send, and manage Factoring Services Agreements and assist prospects throughout the documentation and onboarding process.

● Coordinate with Documentation, Compliance, Operations, and other internal departments to facilitate efficient transaction closings.
● Maintain accurate records of prospects, communications, opportunities, referral sources, and sales activity within the company's CRM.
● Maintain a working knowledge of trucking-industry trends, freight-market conditions, competitive factoring offerings, and developments affecting transportation companies.
● Represent Thunder Funding professionally with clients, prospects, referral partners, and other industry participants.
● Consistently work toward established production, new-client, and business-development objectives.
● Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Skills and Competencies
● Established Industry Network: Maintains meaningful relationships within the trucking and transportation community and understands how to develop those relationships into referral and sales opportunities.
● Industry Knowledge: Understands the operating environment of trucking companies and the cash-flow challenges transportation businesses commonly encounter.
● Business Development Ability: Demonstrated ability to independently source, qualify, develop, and close new business.
● Relationship Building: Able to establish credibility quickly with trucking-company owners, transportation professionals, referral sources, and other industry participants.
● Commercial Judgment: Able to understand a prospective client's business and determine whether an opportunity is appropriate to pursue.
● Results Orientation: Comfortable operating in a performance-driven sales environment with measurable production expectations.
● Persistence and Resilience: Able to manage a long sales cycle, maintain consistent follow-up, and continue developing opportunities despite rejection or delays.
● Communication and Persuasion: Confident and professional when discussing financial products, pricing, transaction structures, and client needs.
● Self-Direction: Able to create and manage an individual business-development strategy rather than depending primarily on inbound leads.
● Professionalism and Integrity: Represents Thunder Funding appropriately and maintains high ethical standards in interactions with clients, prospects, and referral partners.

Qualifications:

Required Experience and Qualifications
● Demonstrated professional sales or business development experience within the trucking, transportation, freight logistics, factoring, or related commercial-finance industries.
● Established relationships and a meaningful professional network within the U.S. trucking and transportation industry that can be utilized to develop new business opportunities.
● Demonstrated history of developing business through personal relationships, referrals, networking, and outbound prospecting.
● Ability to operate as an experienced, self-directed sales professional with limited reliance on company-provided leads.
● Strong understanding of the trucking and transportation ecosystem, including carriers, brokers, shippers, vendors, and other industry participants.
● Prior experience selling factoring, accounts receivable financing, equipment finance, transportation financial services, or related products is strongly preferred.
● Existing familiarity with transportation factoring and the financial needs of small and midsized trucking companies is highly desirable.
