Controls & Instrumentation Engineer (Plant)

About the Role

We are hiring a Controls & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer to support plant maintenance. The role is primarily based in Prai, with occasional visits to Kulim (twice per month) and minimal travel to Gopeng. Standard working hours apply.

This is a plant-based maintenance role, focusing on day-to-day operations support, troubleshooting and reliability of instrumentation and control systems.

Candidates from system integrator or project-only roles will not be considered.

Role Scope

• Based at Prai plant supporting ASU, hydrogen, nitrogen and filling plants.
• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and reliability activities for C&I systems.
• Support plant start-up, shutdown and commissioning when required.
• Work closely with Operations and Maintenance teams to ensure safe and reliable performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective C&I maintenance.
• Troubleshoot instruments including transmitters, analyzers, sensors and control valves.
• Maintain and troubleshoot DCS and PLC systems.
• Conduct inspections and improve equipment reliability.
• Supervise contractors for C&I work.
• Manage maintenance records, SAP PM and spare parts.
• Ensure compliance with safety, EHS and ISO standards.

Requirements

• Degree in Engineering (Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronic, Control or related).

• Min. 5 years of C&I experience in plant-based process industries (industrial gas, chemical, petrochemical, oleochemicals, palm oil or oil & gas).

• Must be strong in both Control & Instrumentation (controls knowledge, controls drawing, control valve, instrumentation tools, transmitters, analyzers, control valves, sensors).

• Experience with DCS or PLC systems.

• Able to read instrumentation and control drawings.

• Willing to travel across Northern sites.
