Controls Engineer

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer (PLC) to design, program, and commission custom automation equipment.

Please Note

This is NOT a plant maintenance or manufacturing support role or embedded electrical engineering role.

The ideal candidate has experience designing PLC controls systems (Allen-Bradley PLC's) for automated assembly equipment, robotic cells, material handling systems, test equipment, and other custom industrial machinery.

Responsibilities

• Design control systems for custom automation equipment and special-purpose machinery.
• Develop electrical schematics, panel layouts, I/O architecture, and controls documentation.
• Program and troubleshoot: Allen-Bradley PLCs (Must), HMIs, Servo motion systems, Safety systems
• Develop scalable and maintainable controls architecture.
• Integrate robots, vision systems, motion control, and industrial networking technologies.
• Lead controls debug during panel checkout, machine assembly, machine runoff, FAT, installation, and startup.
• Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers, machine builders, project managers, and customers.
• Participate in design reviews and technical discussions.
• Troubleshoot complex machine issues and implement practical solutions.
• Support customer startups and commissioning activities.
• Ensure controls systems meet performance, safety, and reliability requirements.

Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related.
• 7+ years of experience designing controls systems for: Custom automation equipment / Factory automation systems / Assembly machinery / Special-purpose machinery
• Strong PLC programming experience with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation.
• Experience integrating industrial robots such as FANUC, Yaskawa, Epson, ABB,etc.
• Experience with:
• Studio 5000 / Logix
• FactoryTalk View
• Servo motion systems
• VFDs
• Industrial safety systems
• Experience developing electrical schematics using:
• AutoCAD Electrical
• EPLAN
• Similar electrical CAD software
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously.

Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
