Controls Engineer (Data Center)

Note: This role requires travel to live data center sites in Austin, TX and IL

We're working with a fast-growing, well-funded data center operator expanding its footprint across the US. They're looking for an experienced Controls Engineer to take ownership of BMS, BAS, and EPMS infrastructure across their facilities.

What You'll Be Doing

• Own the design, optimization, and maintenance of BMS, BAS, and EPMS systems across multiple data centers.
• Lead controls commissioning, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for critical mechanical and electrical systems.
• Develop and standardize controls architecture, Sequences of Operation (SOOs), alarming, and monitoring.
• Oversee third-party contractors, system upgrades, and new controls installations.
• Optimize cooling plant controls, including chillers, cooling towers, and AHUs, to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Support facility operations and drive continuous improvements across the portfolio.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of controls engineering experience within data centers or mission-critical facilities.
• Strong technical background in BMS/BAS, EPMS, PLC programming, SCADA, BACnet, Modbus, industrial networking.
• Experience with mechanical plant controls, HVAC automation, and commissioning.
• Ability to manage controls projects from design through commissioning and operational handover.
• Comfortable with up to 40% travel and a rotating on-call schedule.
