Overview

Join our dynamic team as a Controls Engineer specializing in heavy industry applications! This position is responsible to design, improve, modify and maintain the electrical infrastructure of the facility and its manufacturing equipment. Electrical design for new projects to support production and equipment upgrades to improve machine efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design of facilities electrical systems.
• Installation of facilities electrical systems.
• Project Management from conception to Commissioning.
• Start-up systems.
• Establish operation parameters of systems.
• Provide training on system operation and maintenance.
• Controls support of facilities and systems
• Retrofit of facilities electrical systems.
• Controls upgrades on existing equipment.
• Environmental controls.
• Energy management and building control.
• Assist maintenance staff in troubleshooting equipment/systems.

Skills

• High competency to program PLCs
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, RS Logix
• Factory Talk View, SAP

Qualifications

• Bachalor's degree Electrical Engineering
• 4-7 years experience
• Knowledge of both power systems and control systems
• Highly flexible with good organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
• Proven expertise in designing electrical systems, circuit design, schematic creation, and PCB layout using CAD software such as AutoCAD or Revit.
• Hands-on experience with FPGA development using VHDL or SystemVerilog; familiarity with simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of control systems including programming PLCs.
• Skilled in electronics design practices including surface mount technology (SMT), soldering techniques, firmware development, and electronics troubleshooting.
• Experience working with industrial automation components such as sensors, vision inspection systems, motor drives, and communication protocols for industrial environments.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis efficiently using diagnostic tools like oscilloscopes and multimeters; excellent debugging skills are essential.
• Knowledge of electrical safety standards including NFPA 70 compliance; understanding mechanical concepts related to surface mount technology and mechanical integration is a plus.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or Perl for automation tasks; familiarity with C++ for system development verification is advantageous.
