  • Basic understanding of MATLAB, Simulink, engineering analysis, and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Strong interest in locomotive, transportation, energy, or industrial control systems.
  • Familiarity with control system modeling and simulation concepts.
  • Experience with academic projects involving controls, automation, robotics, electrification, or embedded systems is a plus.
  • Exposure to Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or data analytics tools is preferred.
  • Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Support the development and enhancement of engine control system architectures and control strategies.
  • Assist in modeling and simulation activities using MATLAB and Simulink to evaluate and validate control concepts.
  • Support calibration, testing, verification, and validation activities in laboratory and test environments.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret engine performance and diagnostic data to support engineering decisions.
  • Assist in root cause investigations, troubleshooting activities, and resolution of controls-related issues.
  • Support development and validation of traction and auxiliary control functions, including propulsion, braking, cooling, air management, and auxiliary subsystems.
  • Participate in subsystem and system-level testing, simulation, and performance evaluation activities.
  • Assist with controls requirements analysis, verification efforts, and maintenance of engineering documentation, including DFMEA updates.
  • Support prototype development, testing, deployment of new control features, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare technical documentation, engineering reports, technical reviews, and project status updates while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.
