Job Title

Controls Project Engineer (Parcel/Distribution)

Job Description

Would you like to progress your career in a dynamic, rewarding and market-leading environment? If the answer is “yes”, then look no further than Vanderlande! We’ll give you the opportunity to work with our inspiring and talented experts on world-class projects – while growing your network, broadening your experience and expanding your horizons.

Your position

As a Controls Project Engineer (Parcel/Distribution), you play an important role in the delivery of Vanderlande’s material handling systems. You design, program, and test PLC controls for large-scale logistics automation projects, contributing to reliable solutions that support our customers’ operations. Your work covers two main phases: engineering and commissioning.

In the engineering phase, you collaborate with a multidisciplinary project team to translate customer requirements into functional specifications, software designs, and practical test plans. You develop, emulate, and test the PLC software and ensure it can be integrated properly into the overall system.

After engineering, you travel to customer sites worldwide to commission the system. On site, you configure and fine-tune the controls, validate system functionality, support customer acceptance testing, and help ensure a smooth handover to the service organization.

Throughout the project, you take ownership of your scope by monitoring the available hours and agreed schedule, identifying risks early, and taking appropriate actions to keep the project moving forward.

Your department

In the Project Engineering department, you contribute to material handling projects that are delivered worldwide. You work within a multidisciplinary team that brings together mechanical, electromechanical, and controls disciplines. As a Controls Project Engineer, you work under the guidance of a Project Leader and in close cooperation with the Integration Manager, Mechanical Engineers, and Electrical Engineers.

Your profile

  • Successfully completed education at HBO (higher vocational education) level in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Computer Science or Controls Technology

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Proactive, pragmatic and hands-on attitude

  • Delivering feedback and best practice to improve our products

  • Communicating through regular progress reports

  • Managing deadlines and milestones

  • Knowledge of and experience in PLC applications (TIA Portal)

  • Willing to work regularly for extended periods in other countries (up to 50% of your time)

  • Good command of the English language, Dutch language is preferred

What do we offer?

In this role, you can expect a monthly salary between €4.300,- and €5.500,- gross, excluding 8% holiday allowance, based on your experience and qualifications.

In addition, we offer:

  • 40 vacation days per year (20 statutory days and a flexible budget equivalent to 20 additional days).
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Hybrid working (40% from home and 60% from the office).
  • A Health & Wellbeing budget of €300 per year.
  • Travel allowance and full reimbursement of public transport costs.
  • A working-from-home allowance.
  • A collective pension scheme.
  • Discount on supplementary health insurance.
  • On-site health centres including a gym, physiotherapy, and occupational health support.
  • Access to the Vanderlande Academy and a wide range of training opportunities.
  • Employee communities, networks, and social initiatives.
  • A modern company restaurant and coffee bar with professional baristas.
