About the role

Social Multiway Sdn Bhd is seeking a Conversational AI Engineer (RAG & Mobile Integration) to join our dynamic team. This is a full-time position based in Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Kuala Lumpur. As a Conversational AI Engineer, you will be at the forefront of developing cutting-edge conversational AI solutions, with a specialisation in Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems and mobile platform integration. This role is strategically important to our company as we expand our AI capabilities and deliver innovative solutions that enhance user engagement across multiple channels. You will work on designing, developing, and deploying intelligent conversational agents that seamlessly integrate with mobile applications whilst leveraging advanced language models and retrieval systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop conversational AI systems utilising Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures to enhance contextual accuracy and response quality
• Integrate conversational AI solutions with mobile applications, ensuring seamless user experience and optimal performance across iOS and Android platforms
• Implement and optimise large language models (LLMs) and natural language processing (NLP) pipelines to support sophisticated dialogue management
• Develop and maintain APIs that enable communication between conversational AI backends and mobile frontends
• Collaborate with product managers, UX/UI designers, and other engineers to translate requirements into robust technical solutions
• Conduct thorough testing and debugging of conversational AI systems, ensuring reliability, accuracy, and user satisfaction
• Optimise model performance and inference speed to support real-time conversational interactions on mobile devices
• Implement data pipelines and knowledge base management systems that feed RAG models with relevant and up-to-date information
• Document technical architecture, design decisions, and development processes to maintain code quality and facilitate knowledge sharing
• Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in conversational AI, machine learning, and mobile development

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or related field
• 2+ years of professional experience in software engineering with a focus on AI/ML or conversational AI systems
• Proven experience developing and implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems or similar information retrieval architectures
• Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++
• Hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs), NLP frameworks, and conversational AI platforms such as OpenAI APIs, Hugging Face, LangChain, or similar technologies
• Demonstrated experience integrating AI systems with mobile applications (iOS and/or Android)
• Solid understanding of machine learning principles, model training, and deployment practices
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure
• Familiarity with containerisation technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders
• Preferred: Experience with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus) or semantic search implementations
• Preferred: Knowledge of mobile app development frameworks and best practices
• Preferred: Contributions to open-source AI/ML projects or published research in conversational AI
