Conveyancer – Agricultural & Rural Property

Location: Stanhope, Bishop Auckland, County Durham
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Hours: Full-time

The Barrington Law Partnership is looking for an experienced Conveyancer who would be interested in developing their career into agricultural and rural property work.

This would suit someone with a strong conveyancing background who is confident handling property matters independently and is looking to broaden their experience into a more specialist area.

We act for a broad range of farmers, landowners, rural businesses and families, often across matters involving land which has been held for generations. The successful candidate would work with an existing caseload and be given the opportunity to develop their knowledge of agricultural work over time, rather than being expected to arrive as a fully established agricultural specialist.

The role

The successful candidate would initially bring their existing conveyancing experience into the role while gradually taking on a broader range of agricultural and rural property matters.

Work is likely to include:

• Sales and purchases of farms, agricultural land and rural property
• Transfers of land and property
• Agricultural and rural refinancing
• Easements, rights of way and access arrangements
• Boundary and title matters
• Farm Business Tenancies and other agricultural tenancy work
• Grazing agreements and licences
• Rural development and diversification matters
• Renewable energy and utility agreements affecting land
• Property matters involving farming families and rural businesses

The role can be developed around the successful candidate's existing experience. We are not expecting someone to have dealt with every aspect of agricultural law before joining us.

There will be support available while the successful candidate develops their agricultural knowledge, with the intention that they become a key point of contact for the firm's rural clients over time.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

• Has solid experience in residential, commercial or mixed property conveyancing
• Is confident managing their own files from instruction through to completion
• Has good knowledge of title, Land Registry and general property matters
• Is comfortable dealing directly with clients, lenders, agents and other professionals
• Is interested in developing into agricultural and rural property work
• Values long-term client relationships
• Is willing to learn and take on increasingly complex rural property work as their experience develops.
