About us

Dinotopia is an indoor dinosaur-themed family entertainment center on Gallatin Pike in Madison. Tens of thousands of people come through our doors every year, most of them parents with young kids, and a lot of those visits are birthdays and first-time outings that families will remember. The Pterodactyl Cafe is where a big part of that experience happens.

About the Role

Our cafe keeps families fueled for a day of play. As a Cook and Cafe Attendant, you'll work both sides of the counter: taking orders and serving guests up front, and preparing food in the kitchen. You'll also prepare and help serve food for birthday parties and keep the cafe and kitchen clean and food-safe throughout the day.

What You'll Do

Front Counter

• Greet guests with a smile, take orders, and process payments on our point-of-sale system
• Answer questions about the menu, ingredients, and allergens
• Serve food and drinks quickly and accurately
• Keep the counter, condiment station, and seating area clean and stocked

Kitchen and Food Prep

• Prepare and cook menu items following our recipes and portion standards
• Prep ingredients, restock supplies, and help with inventory
• Follow food safety, temperature, and allergen procedures at all times
• Speak up right away when supplies are running low or equipment needs attention

Party Food Support

• Prepare party food orders and time them so they're hot, fresh, and ready when parties need them
• Help deliver food and drinks to party rooms and support the party team
• Help clean up and reset party rooms after food service

Cleaning

• Wash dishes and kitchen tools and keep work surfaces sanitized
• Clean and sanitize cafe tables, chairs, and high chairs between guests
• Sweep, mop, and take out trash in the cafe and kitchen
• Complete opening and closing kitchen and cafe checklists

What We're Looking For

• Friendly, upbeat, and comfortable serving families with young kids
• Able to switch between the counter and the kitchen as needed
• Takes food safety and cleanliness seriously
• Works well under pressure during lunch rushes and busy party weekends
• Dependable and on time
• Cooking, food service, or restaurant experience is a plus, but we'll train the right person
• Food handler certification is a plus, or willingness to get one
• Weekend availability required

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk for a full shift
• Work safely around hot equipment and sharp tools
• Lift up to 25 to 30 pounds

Schedule and pay

Part-time hourly. Weekend vailability required.

Pay: $13.00 - $18.00 per hour
