Cook / Chef – El Mexicano

El Mexicano is looking for an experienced and passionate Cook/Chef to join our kitchen team. The successful candidate will have previous commercial kitchen experience, strong food preparation skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook food according to recipes and restaurant standards.
• Ensure consistent quality, presentation, and portion control.
• Manage food preparation and kitchen operations during service.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness.
• Monitor food stock and assist with ordering and storage.
• Work efficiently during busy service periods.
• Follow kitchen procedures and maintain a clean and organised workspace.
• Work cooperatively with other kitchen and front-of-house staff.

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Cook or Chef is essential.
• Commercial kitchen or restaurant experience required.
• Good knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays when required.

Pay: From $27.50 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 38.0 per week
