This role is ideal for someone who is dependable, organized, passionate about food service, and enjoys working as part of a team in a healthcare environment. The Cook may also provide guidance and support to other dietary team members and assume additional responsibilities in the absence of the Director of Dietary Services or Dietary Supervisor.

  • Ensure food is prepared, presented, and served in a safe, timely, and appealing manner.
  • Follow standardized recipes, menus, and production procedures to maintain consistency and quality.
  • Monitor and accurately record food temperatures throughout the preparation process, including food storage, cooking, holding, and serving.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, infection prevention, and dietary regulations, including facility policies, local health department requirements, and applicable state and federal standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation area.
  • Work collaboratively with dietary team members and other Center departments to support a positive resident experience.
  • Report safety concerns, hazardous conditions, and equipment malfunctions promptly to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Assist with food ordering, purchasing, receiving, storage, and inventory management as directed.
  • Assist with maintaining electronic meal service information and other dietary documentation as assigned.
  • Provide support and guidance to dietary team members and help ensure the department operates efficiently.
  • Attend required in-service training, departmental meetings, and Center meetings.
  • Treat residents, families, visitors, and fellow team members with dignity, patience, respect, and professionalism.
  • Promptly report any illness or symptoms that may impact food safety or job performance to the Director of Dietary Services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is someone who:

  • Has previous cooking or food service experience, preferably in healthcare, long-term care, hospitality, or a high-volume food service environment.
  • Has a strong understanding of food preparation, food safety, sanitation, and proper temperature control.
  • Can follow recipes, menus, production sheets, and special dietary requirements.
  • Is dependable, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
